Meet the Two Tree Team!
I’m Stefanie DeFiglia, founder of Two Tree Integrative Health. I received my professional training at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, consistently ranked one of the best nursing schools in the country. I have over 20 years of clinical experience. For the first 5 years of my career (as a National Health Service Corps scholar), I worked in community health in Washington, DC. I worked in a variety of settings: with children and adults in community health centers, in homeless shelters, and in a mobile outreach van. I spent the next 9 years in geriatrics and long term care, caring for frail and vulnerable adults all over Maryland and DC. I loved my patients and felt privileged to care for them. However, I became increasingly frustrated by our health care system.
I followed best practices. I knew all the guidelines for treating chronic conditions. My employers said I had “great patient outcomes.” (Which basically means having good numbers on bloodwork and prescribing the recommended medications.) But did that mean my patients were in ideal health? Not at all. Their chronic conditions were well managed but no one actually got better. My days were packed with too many patients to see and way too much documentation to do. I had no time to dig deeper to find the root of the problem. I had no time to provide the kind of education my patients needed. This was not the kind of care I wanted to provide.
I found Functional Medicine and recognized that this approach to healthcare could make a real impact on our community. It reignited my passion for helping people feel their best. I committed to learning these principals and completed professional training through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). Two Tree Integrative Health opened in 2019 as a general functional medicine practice. Over the years we have found our niche: Hormones, Gut Health, and Metabolic Health. We do a ton of work around the menopause transition, which includes elements from all of these areas. But we also work with women with Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome which was formerly known as PCOS. Gut health includes Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), and supporting Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, and Diverticulitis. Metabolic health includes prediabetes, diabetes, and overweight. While our practice is primarily geared towards women, we will see men experiencing any of the conditions discussed here. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to share this powerful healing tool with you!
Ready to make a change? The first step is to make an appointment, so you can tell us more about yourself.

Barb Stacy is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, who joined the team in June 2023. She coaches patients virtually through our telehealth platform and in-person on occasion when she is in Easton.
Barb grew up witnessing firsthand the impact of chronic disease on the individual patient and their family. In her experience, having a support system made all the difference, inspiring her to pay forward that support in her career of 25+ years in training and organization development across various corporate, government and volunteer sectors. In 2019 she found herself longing for a way to combine her passions for health and wellness, advocating for others, and education in a new career. She embarked on the journey to become a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach.
Barb brings to our team a diverse background as an adult educator, leadership and team developer, public speaker, and former restorative yoga and Pilates teacher. Her compassionate-coaching philosophy is based on the belief that everyone brings value, and she works to empower others to build the habits to support the life they want to live – leveraging personal strengths for personal growth!
Barb and her husband Ed, split their time between Western Maryland and Easton, MD. When she’s not coaching, you can find her being creative in the kitchen, learning something new, taking a walk, or spending time with her husband and rescue cat Coco.
